Festival of Italian Photography

The Festival of Italian Photography was born in 2024 on the initiative of the Italian Federation of Photographic Associations (FIAF). The event, grandiose and culturally rich, takes place across the suggestive Tuscan territory of Casentino, embracing the towns of Bibbiena, Poppi, Pratovecchio Stia from June to September each year (14/06 – 06/10). The spaces dedicated to tourism and the enjoyment of culture are used together with industrial archeology sites for total involvement of the territory. Casentino thus presents itself as a unique tourist destination, between culture, tradition and nature.
The cultural and artistic identity of the Festival aims to be a point of reference, not only nationally, for authors and Italian visual culture. Each edition will be based on a theme: this year’s is From the Earth to the Moon. Explorations on Italian Photography, a romantic suggestion that is clearly inspired by Jules Verne’s science fiction novel.

The central element of the Festival is the themed exhibition, dedicated to famous exponents of contemporary photography, which will be open to the public for the entire summer season at the Italian Center of Author Photography – CIFA – in Bibbiena. It is curated by Denis Curti, conceived with the aim of tracing the evolutionary path of Italian Photography, highlighting its importance and contribution over time.
